Details
[Edit]Despite the title of this LP, there actually are not any trios on this set. However a trio of great boogie-woogie pianists (Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade Lux Lewis) are heard from in rare radio broadcasts. Johnson's quartet performs four numbers (including "Swanee River Boogie" and "St. Louis Blues Boogie") from a 1947 concert, each of the pianists are heard on a solo from 1939, Johnson and Ammons perform "Boogie-Woogie Prayer" together in 1947 and Lewis (in duets with drummer Smokey Stover) plays seven numbers at San Francisco's Club Hangover during 1953-54. This is generally well-recorded and consistently exciting music by three of the very best.
