Details
[Edit]The debut full-length from Caesura, a San Francisco trio, filters a classic Unwound wall of sound through the dissonant guitars and attack rhythms of Gang of Four. Less experimental than post-rockers like Ativin and less math rock than 31Knots, Caesura is content to destroy with pure heaviness and early Fugazi assaults. The production may be a bit muddy, but Caesura has a firm grasp on riveting art punk songwriting. "Enter Fluorescence" captures the feeling of a stripped-down, pre-Daydream Nation Sonic Youth and "Trap Door" grinds like something off of Dirty. Caesura has real potential — they just need to find a producer who can help them realize their sound.
