Details
[Edit]Charlie Barnet reached his greatest popularity during his years with Bluebird (1939-42) but the orchestra he led during his period with Decca (1942-46) was even more powerful. This CD contains 20 of their best recordings and, even if "Skyliner" was their only commercial hit, such top soloists as trumpeters Peanuts Holland, Al Killian and Roy Eldridge, clarinetist Buddy DeFranco, pianists Dodo Marmarosa and Al Haig, guitarist Barney Kessel and singer Kay Starr (not to mention Barnet himself) make strong appearances on this well-conceived and hard-swinging set.
