Details
[Edit]You'd be hard-pressed to find a musician more productive in 2004 than multi-talented, longtime Savatage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra collaborator Chris Caffery, who cranked out a double-disk solo album and still had enough music left over to fill this eight-track mini-album. And far from a lackluster assemblage of not-worthy castoffs, Music Man does its name justice by showcasing Caffery's admirable range as a singer, guitarist, but especially as a composer. To wit, his talents touch on everything from evocative ballads (the acoustic title track and the ultra-tender "Forever We'll Be"), to venomous, fist-pumping heavy rocker "Pisses Me Off," to classically-formed instrumental "What Child Is This?" and a simple, dignified "Amazing Grace," to the epic progressive rock of "Abandoned" (which would make Savatage leader Jon Oliva proud), to a bona fide Christmas carol (the rather Styx-like "Christmas Is") — possibly left over from his last TSO session. All in all, a wide spectrum offering an ideal introduction to Caffery's subsequent Faces magnum opus.
