Details
[Edit]Seattle’s Curtains For You is a highly acclaimed quintet whose third album continues their streak of joyous pop music. The romping piano bounce of “What Good Am I To You Now?” takes the spirited power of Ben Folds Five and turns it into a moody mix of British and domestic influences. Songs such as “The Great War,” “The Day I Stole Your Car” and “In the Last Of Your Light” evoke comparisons to Harry Nilsson, ELO, Emitt Rhodes and other ‘70s pop-rock practitioners. “The Wasteland” is a beautifully baroque piece with layered vocals and a band sound that is far beyond that of a five-piece. Credit guitarist and singer Matthew Gervais and keyboardist and singer Peter Fedofsky for writing these captivating miniature anthems. “Bronx Zoo Hobo” throws up a country-pop influence with close-knit harmonies and a melody that explodes beyond all expectations. “Photographic Memory” begins at the piano before enjoying a full orchestral blow out. They’re an ambitious band with the talent to pull it off.
