Danilo Montero has been pioneering Christian music for Latino audiences for decades, giving concerts and working as an itinerate worship pastor. Now that experience has been captured on CD, with Montero's first-ever live record, Cantar de Tu Amor. Featuring several tracks that have become commonplace in Spanish-speaking Evangelical communities such as "La Casa de Dios" and the title cut "Cantare de Tu Amor," the play list is full of tracks that Montero was instrumental in popularizing. Danilo Montero began his career in the '80s, as praise & worship music was just beginning to take hold in the States. Stylistically, this 2001 release belies the artist's generational influences. It's '80s pop-rrific. In Montero's defense, so is much of the CCM world. Though a little dated at times, the band is tight like only a constantly touring act can be. The arrangements are tasteful and clean, with production to match. The song is clearly at the heart of this large, gutsy ensemble with an eye on singability, which manages to never obscure the melody or lyrics.
