[Edit]

On the third volume of his live reissue series, after devoting Volume 2 to a single concert, Frank Zappa returned to his policy of mixing times, bands, and repertoire from throughout his career from one track to the next. The first disc, however, is drawn entirely from Zappa's 1984 tour, which gives it more musical coherence than the second disc, which ranges from 1971 to 1984. Many familiar tunes are featured, notably a 24-and-a-half-minute version of "King Kong" that is edited from performances in 1982 and 1971, and there are several previously unreleased compositions.
