[Edit]Fred Travalena has gained some fame as an actor, impressionist, comedian and for his voice-over work. The Manhattan Christmas Suite was a real change-of-pace for him, allowing him to get back to his first love: singing. He wrote ten songs having to do with the joys of Christmas in New York plus, as a bonus, "The Christmas Pup." The music is mostly middle-of-the-road show tunes and the lyrics often get overly sappy and sentimental. However none of the songs on this brief CD were destined to catch on despite the sincerity involved, and the ten numbers do not develop as a real suite. Also, why isn't the personnel listed? Travalena does sing well and swings when it is called for, so hopefully he will record other albums in other settings in the future.
