[Edit]Altoist Herb Geller worked on putting his life story into a musical play for many years. This early attempt finds him performing nine original songs that he had planned at the time to use in the as yet unproduced show. With the assistance of pianist Walter Norris, guitarist John Schroder, bassist Mike Richmond and drummer Adam Nussbaum, Geller (on alto and soprano) sounds fine, but his solos are actually on a higher level than the generally forgettable instrumentals. This CD is not without interest, but has been overshadowed by Herb Geller's superior later recordings.
