Homer & Jethro were always a delight mixing corny vocals with their solid instrumental chops, and this RCA Victor Christmas LP is no exception. Joined by some unidentified Nashville session musicians, they fracture familiar Christmas carols with ridiculous lyrics. They transform "Frosty the Snowman" into a tale about the famous snowman who decides to work on a farm, while "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" is only slightly more lecherous than the original song. "All I Want for Christmas is My Upper Plate" and "Randolph, the Flat-Nosed Reindeer" are just as much fun. The rockish "Santa Claus, the Original Hippie" is absolutely a hoot, but the funniest track is easily "Santa's Movin' On," which is adapted from Hank Snow's country hit "I'm Movin' On." This long out of print LP will be hard to find, but well worth tracking down.
