He's been building his rep over the last several years, dropping a steady stream of well-received indie albums and mixtapes, including American Idol Reject, FREE, Dream Big Hustle Hard Vol. 1, and 12 Days of Freestyles. On Who the F**k Is Irv da Phenom, he presents 16 tracks that showcase his diverse rhyme style. The subsonic bass jam "Errbody" takes aim at unoriginal monkey-see-monkey-do types with plenty of chuckle-inducing lines (“Your squad lookin' like a tight-pants contest”). "Hate Your Family" is a thought-provoking, soulful screed against domestic violence and general ignorance, while "Hop In" is a fantastic, old school–influenced minimalist love jam rap. Undeniably original and surprisingly deep, this is an impressive effort.
