Rock Latino is a solid, 14-track compilation from Los Fabulosos Cadillacs' early years. Fan favorites "Silencio Hospital" from 1986's Bares y Fondas, and their killer cover of "Revolution Rock" from 1988's El Ritmo Mundial are here, as well as the title cuts from El Satanico Dr. Cadillac and La Marcha del Golazo Solitario, as are the reggae version of "Manuel Santillán, El León" and a large selection of other cuts from El León, including "Ríos de Lágrimas" and "Toda la Vida." Other hits include "Matador" from 1993's Vasos Vacios, and the single "Mi Novia Se Cayó en un Pozo Ciego" that originally appeared on 20 Grandes Exitos. The complaint here is that these tunes were assembled from such a small number of albums, rather than the whole of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs' catalog: there isn't a single selection from the band's critically acclaimed Fabulosos Calaveras album. That complaint aside, this is an excellent budget introduction to this Argentine band's killer meld of ska, reggae, punk, roots rock, and R&B. For those who wish to go deeper, though there are far more representative collections, including the aforementioned one, or either of the Obras Cumbres volumes.
