For the most part, this double-disc compilation of tracks by Louis Jordan & His Tympany 5 along with other groups features re-recordings of the classic material he cut for Decca. It's immediately apparent in the sound of these sides. That said, it is Jordan, and it can be honestly said that the man never issued a bad recording. If the original sides are not important to you, or if you are a collector of the brilliant one's sides, this might be a fine way to compare and contrast. If you are looking into Jordan for the first time, it might be best to check out the originals, but you still can't go wrong with this one.
