While growing up in South Dakota in the 1960s, Bruce Arnold was inspired by the playing of some of the top local musicians, including that of Mike Miller. Arnold, who loves playing guitar duets, invited Miller over to his studio one day and this CD contains the results. Arnold and Miller dig into six standards and really stretch themselves, taking turns playing lead and consistently feeding off of each other's ideas. Whether digging into the blues on "Billie's Bounce," taking John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" at a surprisingly relaxed pace, or interacting closely on "Alone Together," Arnold and Miller make for a very complementary yet potent team, inspiring themselves to play at their best.
