[Edit]Currently one of the big names of Saudi popular music, Abdu is squarely in the mainstream. You get here three long songs from a concert appearance. Vocally he sounds like Abdel Halim Hafez, though his voice is more sinewy. Instrumentally there are touches of updating — occasional keyboards, electric guitar, and the like. But the orchestra, and particularly the strongly Egyptian string sound, would mostly fit fine behind Umm Kulthum in her later days.
