Hailing from the ATL, Stat Quo first hit the scene in the early '00s, making noise with his Underground Atlanta mixtape series and eventually getting a joint deal with Eminem's Shady Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath. Unfortunately, like many others before him, he found his album repeatedly pushed back and eventually shelved altogether; he left the labels and went independent in 2008. Since then, he has released several high-quality projects, including Smokin Mirrors, Great Depression, Statlanta, and most recently FUPM Is the Future, a collaboration with Bobby Creekwater. On ATLA, he works with mostly unknown producers (DeUno, A.O., D.K., Tone Mason, Amir Perry, etc.) who give Stat some fantastic beats full of moody synths, midtempo drums, and mellow instrumentation aplenty. Standouts include "Outkast/Relax," the concept song "Michael" (a tribute to Mikes Tyson, Jordan, and Jackson), and the funked-out, wah-wah–laced "P*ssy" with Devin the Dude.
