[Edit]Kaleeya Krishna is an album licensed from the Indian Record Manufacturing Co. with Indian orchestra conducted by Vazhuvoor R. Manikkavinayakam. Orchestra in this context includes washes of violins, percussion and, predictably since Krishna figures prominently, the flute. The material on this recording is devotional in content drawing on the hymnody of the 18th-century composer Ventatasubbaiyar. Its alternative approach makes a nice change from the barer arrangements of much of her other work but this is a case of the strength of variety and not a denigration of her other recordings. Her Mohana Kalyani (WS 003) released in 1993 also has orchestral settings but this recording is superior and should be the first stop.
