Coming out of College Park, Ga., T-Rock is a member of the Three 6 Mafia spinoff group Prophet Posse. He’s released an immense amount of albums since the early ‘00s, including Da Kush, Roaches N Da Ashtray, Patriot Games, and Defcon 1: Lyrical Warfare. On Slang and Serve II, he picks up where the first one left off, with another batch of well-produced songs loaded with wheezing organs, funky guitar strumming, gooey bass bumps, and skittering snares. Lyrically he's pretty straightforward, rhyming exclusively about taking over the rap game ("I'm in It to Win It"), partying ("Yeah I'm Smokin'"), getting his grind on ("We Grind"), and being a stone-cold mack ("Addicted to Pimpin'"). If you're looking for socially conscious, positive-message hip-hop for the youth, you're out of luck here. But if you just want something stereotypical, reckless, and undeniably catchy, T-Rock has got it locked.
