For those who never tire of Mark E. Smith's hypnotic delivery (welcome to the cult), there are often expanded editions of the many albums the group has officially produced. The Unutterable was considered a comeback of sorts. The lineup for the previous year's The Marshall Suite settled in and delivered a harder-edged Fall. This expanded edition includes both the original album with the fantastic "Cyber Insect" (featuring Kazuko Hohki on vocals), the Oprah Winfrey–namechecking "Two Librans," and "Dr. Buck's Letter," which lists the things Smith never leaves home without (sunglasses, music, Palm Pilot, mobile phone, Amex card). The bonus cuts are subtitled "The Testa Rossa Monitor Mixes" and primarily feature early rough mixes of the album, some with early vocal takes. "Hot Rune" is a highlight, while the two instrumental pieces have been known as "Rubber" and "Weirdo" in some Fall circles. It's interesting for Fall fans who want to hear the process of making a Fall album.
