Details
[Edit]Clarinetist Jim Cullum Sr.'s Happy Jazz Band recorded several rewarding albums for their own Audiophile and Happy Jazz labels in the 1960s. The "San" Antonio-based band in 1965 featured the leader, his son Jim Cullum Jr. on cornet, trombonist Gene McKinney, and a fine four-piece banjo/tuba rhythm section. The younger Cullum would gradually improve in power and range during the next couple decades, but he was already a fine cornetist. The group lives up to its name on such Dixieland standards as "Fidgety Feet" and "Milenberg Joys." This LP is worth searching for by Dixieland fans, as are most of this excellent band's recordings.
