Known for his unwavering dedication to all things Ralph Lauren, Thirstin Howl III is a Brooklyn rapper and longtime member of the Lo-Lifes, a street gang formed in the '80s and known for their brash group shoplifting, organizing massive midday Polo raids at New York department stores. He came to prominence in hip-hop circles during the indie-rap boom of the mid- to late '90s, winning The Source's Unsigned Hype award in 1997 and dropping the hit 12-inch singles "Brooklyn Hard Rock" and "The Polorican" shortly thereafter. Blending streetwise humor, PR pride, and gritty yet comical crime stories, he was an underground favorite for a minute and seemed destined to blow up. Mainstream success has largely eluded him, but he soldiers on. Lo Down & Dirty finds the self-proclaimed Skillosopher hooking up with longtime homie and frequent collaborator Rack Lo, going off over triumphant NYC beats from Stricknine, Sammsonite, and Anger Bangers. Check out "Popo Coming," "Too Hot," and "5 Finger Discount."
