[Edit]Fidjo Maguado is an instrumental solo album on which Tito Paris, the talented guitarist from Cape Verde, plays lead guitar, cavaquinho, piano, percussion and some very light background synthesizer. His style of guitar is ornately stylish and is grounded in the traditional music of Cape Verde. Upon repeated listening, one begins to appreciate the hypnotic strands that he weaves with his nimble melodic guitar work. One can hear African, European and Arabic elements within the music. This is what makes it so appealingly rich and varied. The guitar work seems to swirl around itself creating an atmosphere of filigreed intricate beauty. This is an album for guitar lovers and one that is unique. Recommended.
