[Edit]Vampire Nation is more than an artist — it is an attitude. As Vampire Nation, Fredrik Von Hamilton records experimental punk-funk-electronic music with rock & roll textures and psychedelic timbres. Eternal is a musical documentary of his early childhood in Luxor, Egypt, in the '70s. Overall, this is an excellent CD. The subtle rhythms and deep atmospheres combine with ethnic textures to surround listeners with — well — something. That is the key. Von Hamilton is either confused by the state of his beginnings or he is not talking about it. The evocation is confusion, either way. The contrasting styles — funk, punk, rock, electronica, worldbeat — complement and conflict. The concept works. Deep listeners will feel the angst and the anger. Vampire Nation is an attitude. Sometimes the attitude is confrontational.
