Details
[Edit]This bare-bones Vaughn Monroe collection has one of those head-scratching selections: 18 tracks, nine of which were chart entries, including the #1 hits "There I've Said It Again," "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," "Ballerina," "Someday (You'll Want Me to Want You)" and "Riders in the Sky (A Cowboy Legend)." But so many of Monroe's best-known songs are missing, replaced by half an album's worth of songs he covered or used as B-sides but that are not generally associated with him. Maybe there's a rule that says you can only have so many hits on a discount-priced disc, no matter what it's called. Novices who want to get a feel for Monroe's sound, and who can find this album inexpensively, will hear some of his classics, and extreme fans may well find an obscurity or two not otherwise available. But the selection and the sequencing remain difficult to fathom.
