[Edit]Since making his debut in 1994, Lebanese singer and composer Wael Kfoury has become a well-established star in the Middle East thanks to his tasteful vocals, deeply romantic tales of love, and modern pop arrangements. While tracks here like the undulating “Sar El Haki” and the slow-building “El Gharam El Moustahil” are broadly entertaining, surprises arrive in the Parisian café–flavored “Damirak Mertah,” the hard-rocking “Ma Fi Law,” and the electronic-oriented “Ya Bkoun.” The orchestral sounds (straddling Eastern and Western classical styles) on “Kifik Ya Wajaai” finish the album strongly, but nothing is lost in translation anywhere here.
