Pianist Weber Iago composed a full set of music for Os Filhos Do Vento that he dedicates to gypsies. As he states in the liner notes, the results are not gypsy music but a mixture of jazz, classical, and Brazilian music. His use of cellist Joanna Dulf, flutist Keith Underwood, and the reeds of Paul McCandless are mostly in a classical vein while his own piano playing straddles the boundaries between jazz and classical music. The performances are sometimes close to new age (mostly concerned with setting a mood) and are often cinematic, sounding like an impressionistic soundtrack. There are not many moments of excitement and one could imagine these arrangements being performed by a lush string section. The result is superior and well-played background music that rarely commands one's attention.
