Akira is a member of that exclusive club, having traded a career as a softcore porn actress for a position behind the mixing boards. Records such as Groove Machine (1997), Timezone (1998), and Tokyo 2000 (1999) featured a trance-y techno style that gradually grew friendlier to the dancefloor.
